Planned obsolescence or built-in obsolescence[1] in industrial design is a policy of deliberately planning or designing a product with a limited useful life, so it will become obsolete or nonfunctional after a certain period of time.[1] Planned obsolescence has potential benefits for a producer because to obtain continuing use of the product the consumer is under pressure to purchase again, whether from the same manufacturer (a replacement part or a newer model), or from a competitor which might also rely on planned obsolescence.[1]
In some cases, deliberate deprecation of earlier versions of a technology is used to reduce ongoing support costs, especially in the software industry. Though this could be considered planned obselescence, it differs from the classic form in that the consumer is typically made aware of the limited support lifetime of the product as part of their licensing agreement.
For an industry, planned obsolescence stimulates demand by encouraging purchasers to buy sooner if they still want a functioning product. Built-in obsolescence is used in many different products. There is, however, the potential backlash of consumers who learn that the manufacturer invested money to make the product obsolete faster; such consumers might turn to a producer (if any exists) that offers a more durable alternative.
Planned obsolescence was first developed in the 1920s and 1930s when mass production had opened every minute aspect of the production process to exacting analysis.[citation needed]
Estimates of planned obsolescence can influence a company's decisions about product engineering. Therefore the company can use the least expensive components that satisfy product lifetime projections. Such decisions are part of a broader discipline known as value engineering.

Learn how to exercise your eye muscles for restoring healthy vision and eliminating prescription glasses

(NaturalNews) You're probably familiar with all sorts of mythologies promoted as "truisms" in modern medicine: Flu vaccines prevent the flu (they actually don't), CT scans are harmless (they aren't), chemotherapy works to save lives from cancer (it actually causes cancer), and so on. There are all sorts of falsehoods in dentistry, too: Mercury fillings are safe for you! (They aren't.) Gum health has nothing to do with nutrition! (It does.) Cavities can only be treated by drilling, filling and billing! (Often just a money-making scam.)

But did you also know that there are lies and mythologies promoted by eye doctors, too?

Here's a real whopper that's told to almost everyone: The reason you need glasses when you get older is because -- get this -- your eyeball changes its shape!
The only way your eyeballs change shape is if your skull gets cracked
This "eyeball changes its shape" con is a clever scam because it convinces tens of millions of people to buy high-priced prescription glasses each year, usually from the very same vision centers that promote this total quackery. If you just ponder it for a moment, you'll quickly realize how ludicrous the explanation really is. How can your eyeball change its shape when your eye SOCKET is made of bone?

Think about it. For your eyeball to get "longer" as they often tell you, your very skull would have to alter its bone structure. And while that most certainly happens in infants and children, the human skull doesn't keep shifting around when you're an adult. Unless you're run over by a truck or something, anyway, in which case blurred vision should be expected.

No, the real problem with the vision of most people is not that "your eyeball is getting longer" (ridiculous!) but rather that your lens muscles are getting flabby and out of shape!
How your lens muscles gets flabby and out of shape
Your iris is a muscle that controls your pupil, which is like the aperture of a camera lens. Its job is to regulate the amount of light entering the eye. The iris is not our concern here because we're more interested in the muscles that alter the shape of your lens.

Those muscles are part of what's called the ciliary body of your eye. The ciliary body contains muscles that, in real time, alter the curvature of your eye lens to achieve the proper focus of whatever scene you are observing (
http://library.thinkquest.org/25607...). "Proper focus" means altering the curvature of your lens so that the rays of light entering your eye fall on your retina with pinpoint accuracy.

As any photographer well knows, your focus must be altered when viewing something right in front of you (a near object) versus something far away (a far object). In a camera, this change in focus is achieved by altering the distance between two lenses contained in what is commonly called a "camera lens" (it's actually multiple lenses), but in the human eye, this is achieved by changing the shape of the lens through the contraction or relaxation of the ciliary muscles.

You probably never noticed yourself doing this because you don't feel your ciliary muscles working, but they achieve this focus for you thousands of times a day, automatically and without any effort on your part.

Some people (like myself) have achieved conscious control over these muscles, and we can consciously choose to alter the focus of our eyes at any moment, regardless of what scene we're looking at. But for most people, the function is their ciliary muscles is involuntary. (I'm in my 40's and continue to have perfect vision, never needing contact lenses or glasses. I also boost my vision with nutrition such as astaxanthin, lutein and zeaxanthin supplements.)
How to strengthen your ciliary muscles that control your eye lenses
Like any muscle, the ciliary muscles can become weak. How does a muscle become weak? From lack of exercise, of course. If you want strong legs, you need to walk and run from time to time, right? Well, if you want a strong, functioning ciliary muscle set, you need to alternate your vision between near objects and far objects so that these muscles are challenged to stay strong. This also increases the flexibility (range of motion) of your eye lenses (sort of like yoga for your eyes).

Now here's the real kicker in all this: Most people in modern society never view anything far away anymore! They don't live out in the country, in other words, so they're not looking at something a mile away. No mountains are even visible in most cities, and peoples' vision is focused entirely on things that are close. So their ciliary muscles are "locked" in a state of constant contraction. This causes these muscles to tighten, just like your leg muscles if you never stretch out from time to time.

This is all made even worse by the television set -- or perhaps your computer monitor. Today's population spends so much time viewing mobile texting devices, cell phones, portable gaming devices and computer monitors that it's amazing their ciliary muscles have any range of motion at all.

Sooner or later, after a lack of exercise (i.e. focusing on things at various distances), your ciliary muscles get flabby while also losing range of motion and then your eye lenses can't achieve the focus they're supposed to. So instead of the light rays striking your retina where they're supposed to, they may strike a point inside your eyeball a quarter inch in front of your retina instead (as an example, or in other cases it may be some distance behind your retina, which also causes blurred vision). This is where eye doctors get their ridiculous idea that "your eyeballs are too long!"

That's stupid. Your eyeballs aren't "too long." That's just some mythology dreamed up by vision doctors to sell you more glasses. No, unless you're a mutant or something, the real problem is that your ciliary muscles are too weak and lack range of motion to alter the curvature of your lenses.

This problem, fortunately, can often be solved with simple exercises.

(By the way, it should also be obvious from this that the very act of wearing contacts or wearing glasses makes your eye problem worse because it allows your ciliary muscles to stop working, relying on the artificial lenses of your glasses to do that work for you. In much the same way that taking insulin makes diabetes worse over the long haul, wearing glasses also makes your vision worse over time...)
How to exercise your eyeballs and help restore healthy vision
So what if there were a way to exercise your eyeballs and restore the strength and range of motion of your ciliary muscles? Would that restore normal vision?

For many people, YES! Not for everyone, of course. There are other causes of poor vision, such as cataracts, neurological damage (aspartame!), cross-linked protein rigidity of the lens itself (poor nutrition) and so on. But in a surprisingly large number of cases, healthy vision can be restored through simple exercises that you can do at home, in just a few minutes a day, using only your eyes and a simple tool.

That simple tool is a pair of pinhole glasses. They're like exercise machines for your eyes. You simply wear them for a few minutes a day, then walk around and look at stuff.

How pinhole glasses exercise your ciliary muscles and help restore normal vision
Looking through pinhole glasses, as simple as it sounds, causes the ciliary body of your eyes to engage in adaptive exercise that increases the range of motion of your ciliary muscles which control your lenses. This happens because the pinhole glasses are made with hundreds of tiny holes that change the light entering your eyes from an overpowering mass of light rays to a collection of lower-intensity, distinct light rays that effectively give your eyes a more "organized" pattern on which to focus. There's probably a more technical explanation for all this, of course, but the practical upshot is that all sorts of people who suffer from vision problems -- myopia, hyperopia, presbyopia, astigmatism, computer vision syndrome, and so on -- often report instantly improved clarity of vision when wearing these pinhole glasses.

It's not magic, it's just physics. If you force your eye lens muscles to adapt by challenging them, they will usually respond with improved function over time (just like building leg strength by walking or jogging).

Even better, many people report ongoing improvements in their vision even after taking off these pinhole glasses. Looking through the pinholes, you see, exercises the muscles that control the shape of your lens, and as those muscles become stronger (over a period of several days and weeks), they become more capable of focusing light in the proper place on your retina. This means no more blurry vision.

It's the same principle as doing pull-ups to get a stronger upper body, or walking up flights of stairs to build stronger leg muscles. Your eye lenses are controlled by muscles, and like any muscle in your body, those muscles need to be challenged in order to stay strong and fully functional -- and to restore their full, healthy range of motion.

Click this link to pick up some pinhole glasses right now from the NaturalNews Store:
http://www.naturalnews.com/NNStore-...

I find it interesting, by the way, that some people would rather have crutches than restore their normal healthy function. Have you ever seen those people zipping around in electric scooters at the grocery store? Many of those people used to be able to walk just fine! But then they started using the scooters as a convenience, and now -- after a few months of that -- their leg muscles have atrophied to the point where they can't walk! Prescription glasses do the same thing to your eyes. Once you start using them, your ciliary muscles atrophy to the point where you need those glasses just to see clearly.

The vision industry, not surprisingly, makes money off consumer ignorance. It's not in their interests to teach people how to restore your own healthy vision without needing prescription glasses. This is the same way that the pharmaceutical industry doesn't want you to prevent disease because they make more money when you stay sick!
The safest and most affordable way to improve vision for many
Pinhole glasses are a safe and affordable way to take responsibility for your eye health and potentially avoid costly and inconvenient contact lenses or glasses forever. These pinhole glasses cost about the same as a pair of sunglasses at the grocery store, and they're not medical devices at all, so they need no prescription. They contain no lenses themselves, either.

Safety note: Do not wear pinhole glasses while driving or operating heavy machinery such as an airplane, a military humvee or a wrecking ball crane. These glasses partially obscure vision and should be used solely as exercise devices in a safe environment like your home.

They don't work for every case of vision impairment, of course, as there are many causes for blurred vision. But they work remarkably well for most people who try them. And there's no risk in trying, since you can return them to our store if they don't work for you, so there's zero risk in finding out if your own vision problem might be partially or fully resolved by simply exercising your eyes.

Pinhole sunglasses are available now at the NaturalNews Store Holiday Specials page:
http://www.naturalnews.com/NNStore-...

We've heard countless success stories from people wearing these simple devices. Try them yourself to see how they might help you! And remember, our satisfaction guarantee means there's no risk in trying these to see how they might help you live with stronger, more flexible eye muscles.
Zero-cost options you can achieve on your own
Another way to approach this is to simply exercise the range of motion of your ciliary muscles by alternating between focusing on close objects versus far away objects (such as the horizon). This is most easily accomplished from inside your home, near a window. Simply look at something on your desk, then look at something outside your window that's far, far away (ideally, at the horizon). Alternate this process several times, then rest your eyes, and then repeat. Do this daily for a few minutes each day.

With added nutritional support for eye health (lutein, zeaxanthin, astaxanthin and so on), these exercises can, over time, enhance the range of motion of your ciliary muscles and eye lenses. With these exercises, you may discover that you are able to reduce the intensity of your prescription glasses, step by step, until one day you don't need them at all.

The pinhole glasses may help accelerate this process even more, in much the same way that working out with weights is a faster way to build muscle strength than working out with no weights at all.

The most important point in all this is to realize that blurred vision is not some sort of permanent eye damage but usually just a functional aberration that can often be resolved through training. In much the same way that physical therapy can help people rebuild functional muscle mass in their legs, arms or torso, eye exercises can help rebuild functional strength in your eyes.

It's the greatest secret of the eyeglasses industry: Many people don't need eye glasses! Many people don't need contact lenses! What they need is eye exercise. But don't expect the for-profit vision industry to tell you about any of that. Like Big Pharma, they only make money when people stay victims and believe they cannot help themselves. Here at NaturalNews, we specialize in teaching people how to restore health by taking responsibility for their own health outcomes, thereby avoiding the outrageous costs (and inhumane suffering) caused by the medical industry.

The Benefits of Raw Milk

(NaturalNews) Most people are unaware that clean, raw milk from grass-fed cows was actually used as a medicine in the early part of the 20th century. Raw milk - straight from the cow - has been called the "stem cell" of foods. It was used as medicine to treat, and many times cure, some serious diseases. From the time of Hippocrates until just after World War II, this miracle liquid nourished and healed millions.

Clean raw milk from pastured cows is a completely balanced food. You could live on it exclusively if you had to.

Raw milk ingredients that make it such a powerful food:

Proteins

Raw cow's milk has all 20 of the standard amino acids, which saves our bodies the work of having to convert any into usable form. About 80% of the proteins in milk are caseins (reasonably heat stable but easy to digest). The other 20% fall into the class of whey proteins. These are also easy to digest, but also very heat sensitive.

The immunoglobulins are an extremely complex class of milk proteins also known as antibodies. These provide resistance to many viruses, bacteria and bacterial toxins and may also help reduce the severity of asthma symptoms. Research has shown a significant loss of these important disease fighters when milk is pasteurized.

Carbohydrates

Lactose is the primary carbohydrate in cow's milk. It is made from one molecule each of the simple sugars glucose and galactose. People with lactose intolerance do not make the enzyme lactase and so cannot digest milk sugar. Raw milk has its lactose-digesting Lactobacilli bacteria intact. This may allow people who traditionally have avoided milk to drink raw milk.

Fats

About two thirds of the fat in milk is saturated. Saturated fats play a number of important roles in our bodies. They construct cell membranes and key hormones, they provide energy storage and padding for delicate organs, and they serve as a vehicle for important fat-soluble vitamins.

Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) is abundant in milk from pastured cows. This is a heavily studied, polyunsaturated Omega-6 fatty acid that has promising health benefits. Some of CLA's many possible benefits are (1) it raises metabolic rates; (2) it helps remove abdominal fat; (3) it boosts muscle growth; (4) it reduces resistance to insulin; and (5) it strengthens the immune system and lowers food allergy reactions. Grass-fed raw milk has 3-5 times more CLAs than the milk from feed-lot cows.

Vitamins

Whole raw milk has both water and fat soluble vitamins. No enriching is necessary. It's a complete food. Pasteurized milk must have the destroyed components added back in, especially the fat soluble vitamins A and D.

Minerals

Raw milk contains a broad selection of minerals ranging from calcium and phosphorus to trace elements.

Calcium is abundant in raw milk. Its benefits include a reduction of some cancers, particularly colon; higher bone density in people of all ages; lower risk of osteoporosis in older adults; lowered risk of kidney stones; the formation of strong teeth; as well as a reduction of dental cavities.

An interesting fact about minerals as nutrients is the special balance they require with other minerals to function properly. For example, calcium needs a proper ratio of phosphorus and magnesium to be properly utilized by our bodies. Raw milk is in perfect balance.

Enzymes

The 60 functional enzymes in raw milk have an amazing assortment of jobs to perform. Some of them are native to milk and some come from beneficial bacteria growing in raw milk. When we eat food that contains enzymes devoted to its own digestion, it's less work for our pancreas. Other enzymes, like catalase, lysozyme and lactoperoxidase help to protect milk from unwanted bacterial infection, making it safer for us to drink.

Cholesterol

Milk contains about 3mg of cholesterol per gram. Our bodies make most of the cholesterol we need. This amount fluctuates by what we get from our food. Cholesterol is a repair substance. It is a waxy plant steroid that our body uses as a form of water-proofing and as a building block for key hormones.

Beneficial Bacteria

Raw milk is a living food with amazing self-protective properties. As most food goes bad as it ages, raw milk gets better. From helpful bacterial fermentation, the digestibility of enzymes, vitamins, and minerals all increases.

The Benefits of Lemon Balm

Lemon Balm/Melissa Benefits

Lemon Balm was dedicated to the goddess Diana, and used medicinally by the Greeks some 2,000 years ago. In the Middles Ages lemon balm was used to soothe tension, to dress wounds, and as a cure for toothache, skin eruptions, mad dog bites, crooked necks, and sickness during pregnancy. It was even said to prevent baldness. As a medicinal plant, lemon balm has traditionally been employed against bronchial inflammation, earache, fever, flatulence, headaches, high blood pressure, influenza, mood disorders, palpitations, toothache and vomiting. A tea made from Lemon balm leaves is said to soothe menstrual cramps and helps relieve PMS.
The herb is used for nervous agitation, sleeping problems, functional gastrointestinal complaints, menstrual cramps and urinary spasms.

It is thought that the volatile oils in lemon balm contain chemicals that relax muscles, particularly in the bladder, stomach, and uterus, thereby relieving cramps, gas, and nausea.
ESCOP (European Scientific Cooperative On Phytotherapy) lists its internal use for tenseness, restlessness, irritability, and symptomatic treatment of digestive disorders, such as minor spasms; externally, for herpes labialis (ESCOP, 1997).

Recent evidence suggests that lemon balm has a depressant or sedative action on the central nervous systems of laboratory mice. The German Standard License for lemon balm tea approves it for nervous disorders of sleep and of the gastrointestinal tract, and to stimulate the appetite (Wichtl and Bisset, 1994).

Grave's Disease
Lemon balm may block some of the activity of thyroid hormone in the body. Therefore, it has been used in the past to treat Grave's disease, an auto-immune condition in which the thyroid gland produces excess thyroid hormone. Although laboratory and animal studies show that lemon balm may help decrease thyroid in the body, no human studies have yet been conducted for this possible use.

Mental Clarity, Concentration and Relaxation
Lemon balm is widely used to treat anxiety and insomnia in Europe. It reduces anxiety and stress and eases sleep disorders. Recently it produced an unexpected result in a research study: it greatly increased the ability to concentrate and perform word and picture tasks.

Blackstrap molasses

Blackstrap molasses is a sweetener that is actually good for you. Unlike refined white sugar and corn syrup, which are stripped of virtually all nutrients except simple carbohydrates, or artificial sweeteners like saccharine or aspartame, which not only provide no useful nutrients but have been shown to cause health problems in sensitive individuals, blackstrap molasses is a healthful sweetener that contains significant amounts of a variety of minerals that promote your health.

Iron for Energy
In addition to providing quickly assimilated carbohydrates, blackstrap molasses can increase your energy by helping to replenish your iron stores. Blackstrap molasses is a very good source of iron. Particularly for menstruating women, who are more at risk for iron deficiency, boosting iron stores with blackstrap molasses is a good idea--especially because, in comparison to red meat, a well known source of iron, blackstrap molasses provides more iron for less calories and is totally fat-free. Iron is an integral component of hemoglobin, which transports oxygen from the lungs to all body cells, and is also part of key enzyme systems for energy production and metabolism. And, if you're pregnant or lactating, your needs for iron increase. Growing children and adolescents also have increased needs for iron. Just 2 teaspoons of blackstrap molasses will sweetly provide you with 13.3% of the daily recommended value for iron.

A Spoonful of Molasses Helps Your Calcium Needs Go Down
Blackstrap molasses is a very good source of calcium. Calcium, one of the most important minerals in the body, is involved in a variety of physiological activities essential to life, including the ability of the heart and other muscles to contract, blood clotting, the conduction of nerve impulses to and from the brain, regulation of enzyme activity, and cell membrane function. Calcium is needed to form and maintain strong bones and teeth during youth and adolescence, and to help prevent the loss of bone that can occur during menopause and as a result of rheumatoid arthritis. Calcium binds to and removes toxins from the colon, thus reducing the risk of colon cancer, and because it is involved in nerve conduction, may help prevent migraine attacks. Two teaspoons of blackstrap molasses will meet 11.8% of your daily needs for calcium.

An Energizing Mineral-Dense Sweetener
Molasses is also an excellent source of copper and manganese and a very good source of potassium, and magnesium.
Copper, an essential component of many enzymes, plays a role in a wide range of physiological processes including iron utilization, elimination of free radicals, development of bone and connective tissue, and the production of the skin and hair pigment called melanin. Numerous health problems can develop when copper intake is inadequate, including iron deficiency anemia, ruptured blood vessels, osteoporosis, joint problems such as rheumatoid arthritis, brain disturbances, elevated LDL (bad) cholesterol and reduced HDL (good) cholesterol levels, irregular heartbeat, and increased susceptibility to infections. Using two teaspoons of blackstrap molasses to sweeten your morning cereal and the coffee or tea you drink during the day will supply you with 14.0% of the daily recommended value for copper.

ADHD-The Challenge

Dealing with ADHD-A Mothers Story

We've been having a horrible time the past month or so with Spencer. His 13th birthday is today, and he normally stresses for weeks on end before his birthday about what he will do with the birthday money from grandparents- he cannot deal with uncertainty and it makes our lives a living hell each year.

I cried out to the Lord for help. I was doing an internet search for something totally unrelated a few weeks ago.  I "happened" to come across an herb called Eleuthero (it used to be called Siberian Ginseng; it's not the same as regular ginseng). I had never read about it before, but as I was reading, I felt the Lord tell me that this was what Spencer needed.
Its part of a small group of plants called "adaptogens", which means that it works uniquely for each person who takes it as a tonic overall. For example, if you had high blood pressure and you took it, it will lower it, and someone else who might have low blood pressure and took it, it would raise it. It's like an "all purpose" herb that goes in and does what your body needs. It's especially good for stress, and Spencer's been stuck in "fight or flight" stress mode for a few weeks. It's also good for ADHD because it helps with mental clarity and focus.

I started him on Friday, November 3, and we've had peace in the house ever since! It's incredible. I had been reading that it can take up to 8 weeks to start working, but it started working immediately. He's more "there" mentally and totally calm. He did not stress one bit about his birthday! His sleep patterns have normalized...he's even been getting up early (like 7:30 or 8 am!) and starting his work on his own without me telling him to. He's completed his work every single day since then, too. Normally he gets up about 9 or 10 and is in a "fog" for several hours, complaining that he is still tired.

It was adrenal fatigue that was his main issue. He's been in "fight or flight mode" for years, even when there's nothing to stress about. Everything became a crisis of huge proportions to him. There are about 30 "symptoms" of adrenal fatigue, and he has about half of them. Adrenal fatigue is typical for ADHD and for having had the mercury poisoning.
Eleuthero use needs to take breaks now and then to stay effective. I called Kirk's compounding pharmacy (they give help with herbals and naturals if you ever need it) and they said 3 weeks on/ 1 week off is a reasonable schedule. On the week off, I'm going to do licorice root, which is another adaptogen to help his adrenals heal

Anyway, sorry this is so long, but I couldn't cut any of it out. It's so exciting to have peace in our home after so much turmoil.

I am praising the Lord for answering my prayers and healing my son with the incredible plants He created.

Texas Medical Board again tries to destroy Dr. Burzynski with new lawsuit to revoke his medical license

(NaturalNews) The medical establishment in Texas refuses to give up its vicious agenda to destroy the work and career of Dr. Stanislaw Burzynski, the famed cancer doctor whose innovative and specialized antineoplaston (ANP) treatments have helped cure many patients of supposedly "incurable" cancers. The Alliance for Natural Health (ANH) has announced that the Texas Medical Board (TMB) is once again suing Dr. Burzynski to have his medical license revoked, and his Houston, Tex.-based clinic shut down.

TMB's war against Dr. Burzynski's cancer treatments date back to the 1980s, when the group repeatedly accused him of breaking laws, some of which actually turned out to be nonexistent. To make a long story short, the group ultimately failed to destroy Dr. Burzynski because, quite frankly, he had not broken any laws, and his treatments actually work.

If you are unaware of the history of legal fights that Dr. Burzynski has had to deal with, be sure to check out this earlier NaturalNews report
(http://www.naturalnews.com/032998_B...).

You can also watch the full-length documentary about Dr. Burzynski, The Burzynski Movie, for free at NaturalNews.TV
(http://www.naturalnews.tv/v.asp?v=F...).

Dr. Burzynski's cancer protocols are diametrically opposed to conventional cancer treatments. He does not apply a one-size-fits-all chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery approach. Dr. Burzynski custom tailors cancer treatments for his patients based on their unique genetic makeups. In each of these customized formulas, Dr. Burzynski also utilizes sodium phenylbutyrate (PB), a compound he discovered that metabolizes in the liver and turns into antineoplastons.

TMB has fought tooth and nail to silence Dr. Burzynski, presumably because his work is a threat to the multi-billion dollar conventional cancer industry. So this time around, the group is accusing him of all sorts of violations, none of which are valid or true -- but it will attempt to use these flimsy accusations on April 11, 2012, to try to revoke Dr. Burzynski's medical license and shut down his practice unless we stop them!

Be sure to check out this 20-minute video update about what Dr. Burzynski currently faces with the charges made against him by TMB (https://www.burzynskimovie.com/index.php?op...).

On that same page below the video window, you will see a short summary of this current assault against health freedom, as well as information about how YOU can help stop TMB from destroying Dr. Burzynski's viable alternative to conventional cancer treatments.

ANH has also created an Action Alert form by which you can contact Texas senators and representatives, as well as Gov. Rick Perry, who has been instrumental in padding TMB with members that routinely harass integrative physicians like Dr. Burzynski(https://secure3.convio.net/aahf/site/Advocacy?cmd=display&page=UserAction&id=963).

Shampoo or SHAM POO

By Dr. Mercola
If you buy special shampoo for your baby, the last thing you'd expect it to contain would be known or suspected carcinogens...
But if you live in the U.S., this may in fact be the case.
For the past two years, health and environmental groups have been urging Johnson & Johnson to remove two potentially cancer-causing chemicals from its baby shampoo.
One of these ingredients is quaternium-15, which releases formaldehyde; a skin, eye, and respiratory irritant, and a known carcinogen (formaldehyde exposure has been associated with leukemia specifically).
According to SafeCosmetics.org:
"The North American Contact Dermatitis Group considers quaternium-15 to be among the most clinically significant contact allergens in children."
The other, 1,4-dioxane, is a "likely carcinogen," and is present in Johnson & Johnson's:
  • Baby Shampoo
  • Oatmeal Baby Wash
  • Moisture Care Baby Wash, and
  • Aveeno Baby Soothing Relief Creamy Wash
According to the CDC, 1,4 dioxane is "probably carcinogenic to humans," and is toxic to your brain, central nervous system, kidneys and liver.

Why is Johnson & Johnson Dragging Their Feet on Removal of Toxic Ingredients for U.S. Lots?

On October 31, The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics sent Johnson & Johnson a letter signed by 25 environmental and medical groups, demanding they "commit to removing the chemicals from all of its products by November 15." The Campaign also urges everyone to boycott Johnson & Johnson until it complies.
Johnson & Johnson recently responded, stating that:
"We have been phasing out the use of preservatives that release tiny amounts of formaldehyde to guard against bacterial contamination. These preservative technologies, which are used widely in our industry are all safe and approved in the countries where they are sold…  Over the past couple of years, we already have reduced the number of formulations globally with these "formaldehyde releaser" preservatives by 33% and in the U.S. by over 60%.
We are completing this reformulation as quickly as we can safely and responsibly do so.
As part of the manufacturing process, we have extensive monitoring to ensure that the amount of a trace byproduct known as "1,4 dioxane" in any of our products is well below the level that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and regulatory agencies around the world consider safe.
… We have introduced new product formulations for consumers who prefer natural products, such as JOHNSON'S® NATURAL®, a line that is 98% natural, and contains no formaldehyde releasing preservatives or traces of 1,4 dioxane."
However, reasonable as this may sound, there are two rather obvious "problems" with their reply:
  1. They’re already selling a carcinogen-free version of its baby shampoo in other countries, so obviously no complicated reformulation would be necessary, and
  2. The Johnson’s “Naturals” brand does not contain either of these chemicals, but, it costs about twice as much as their regular baby shampoo. That makes TWO carcinogen-free formulas at their disposal, which makes the line “We are completing this reformulation as quickly as we can safely and responsibly do so,”  seem like a rather strange excuse
The countries already receiving quaternium-15-free Johnson & Johnson products include:
Denmark Finland Japan The Netherlands
Norway South Africa Sweden The U.K.

As stated by Jezebel:
"And it's not like the company removed an essential ingredient to meet environmental restrictions in these countries. While some have banned the use of quaternium-15, it's unclear why some of these countries are being treated to the carcinogen-free shampoo."

What to Look for to Avoid Formaldehyde and 1,4-Dioxane

If you want to avoid formaldehyde-releasing ingredients and 1,4-dioxane, you need to know what to look for as they're NOT listed on the label; at least not in those words.

Common ingredients likely to contaminate products with formaldehyde include:
  • Quaternium-15
  • DMDM hydantoin
  • Imidazolidinyl urea
  • Diazolidinyl urea
To avoid 1,4-dioxane, watch out for these ingredients, which create 1,4-dioxane as a byproduct:
  • PEG-100 stearate

From Eleny

I made up my mind a few years ago that I was not going to buy anything without reading the label considering the toxic brew of chemicals that a lot of products have, even products at health stores. I made the mistake of not reading the labels when I first started shopping at a health food store and little did I know that some of the popular brands were tainted with cancer causing chemicals. I agree that a lot of products are a sham and Johnsons baby shampoo is indeed SHAM POO.

sham/SHam/

Noun:
A thing that is not what it is purported to be.

Adjective:
Bogus; false.

Verb:
Falsely present something as the truth: "was he shamming?".

The Dangers of Gardasil with Dr. Russell Blaylock

California: 12-Year-Olds to Get
HPV Vaccine Without Parental Consent

California girls as young as 12 can soon receive the human papillomavirus , or HPV, vaccine without the consent of their parents. Last Sunday Gov. Jerry Brown signed the bill into law, which takes effect Jan. 1, 2012.

“It’s always a close question as to what we might allow,” ABC News’ affiliate KABC-TV reported Brown as saying. “But we do that with other reproductive kinds of issues, and I felt this one was similar to what we’ve done before.”

The HPV vaccine, which includea the brands Gardasil and Ceravix, can be administered to girls as young as 9, and as old as 26. Each year, about 12,000 women get cervical cancer in the U.S., and almost all of these cancers are HPV-related, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The HPV vaccine can prevent several strains of the cancer.

The new law, sponsored by the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and several other state health agencies, set off a flurry of protest from several conservative groups.

“Jerry Brown is deceptively telling preteen girls it will protect them from HPV, giving them a false sense of security that they can have the sexual activity they want without risking developing cervical cancer or a raft of other negative consequences,” Randy Thomasson, a spokesperson for SaveCalifornia.org, said in a statement.

Karen England of Capitol Resources Institute criticized the law because of what it might mean in taxpayer dollars.

“If her parents aren’t aware of it, she will be emancipated, and the state will be paying for every single minor that’s encouraged to go into a clinic and get these different boosters,” England told KABC-TV.

About 30 other states have enacted similar laws to California’s.

Dr. Mark Einstein, director of the departments of gynecologic oncology and obstetrics at Montefiore Medical Center in New York, said that the HPV vaccine is recommended by all scientific stake-holding organizations as routine for all 11- and 12-year-olds in the U.S., but that less than half of vaccine-eligible girls are getting the vaccine. Far fewer get all three doses.

“One of these challenges is the need for parental consent,” said Einstein. “In the U.K., Australia and other countries, such a need for parental consent does not exist, and their vaccine rates exceed 80 percent of vaccine-eligible girls.”

Make your own laundry booster

Items needed:

32oz Container
2 cups Borax
2 cups Washing Soda
Lavender Oil-20 drops
Eucalyptus Oil-10 drops
1 ounce scoop (2 Tbsp)

1. Mix dry ingredients
2. Mix Oils
3. Shake container to make sure all ingredients are mixed well.

That's it. Add one full scoop to each large load of laundry and a half scoop for a medium load and about a tsp for a small load. It smells fabulous and extends the life of your detergent. I find that even for a large load of laundry I do not have to use as much detergent with the mix.

The case of Maryanne Godboldo

Twisted web of lies in Maryanne Godboldo Case: Big Pharma, multiple agencies, judge, DHS all profit from child abduction

NaturalNews -  August 15, 2011
by Christina Luisa
There is a good chance you have heard the story of Maryanne Godboldo and how armed government agents broke down her door and attempted to kidnap her 13-year-old daughter Ariana to turn over to CPS because she refused to medicate her with a potentially dangerous and mind-altering anti-psychotic drug Risperdal (http://www.naturalnews.com/032191_C…). Maryanne had been using holistic remedies for her daughter instead, such as dance therapy.
The Detroit mother is now currently going through a criminal and custody trial because of this incident, and a variety of revealing and disturbing information is starting to come out about the involvement of Big Pharma and other parties in the twisted web of lies the case is wrapped in.
The jury presiding over the hearing was convinced to believe that Maryanne’s refusal to give her daughter the controversial drug, supposedly used to “treat” ADHD, represented a form of parental neglect. Read more here: http://www.naturalnews.com/033295_p…
Thanks to the Voice of Detroit (VOD), it is now coming to light that the New Oakland Child-Adolescent & Family Center – a private facility which reported Maryanne to CPS for taking her daughter off the drug — has paid connections with Big Pharma since at least 2004.

Pharmaceutical companies were involved all along

According to the Center’s website, Kimberly Smith — Director of Pharmaceutical Research for all its facilities since 2004 — provides “clinical support and supervision” for the Clinton Township facility. She is also the head of the Center’s Office of Recipient Rights. The website openly says that Kimberly has been coordinating Adult and Pediatric CNS (Central Nervous System) Clinical Trials for a number of big pharmaceutical companies for the last ten years.
Smith was recently contacted by VOD at her office, and she admitted that not only is she paid by the drug companies she works with, but that trials she is paid to conduct are among those carried out at New Oakland’s facilities. She refused to give further information on specific drug trials, saying the information was “private.” She claimed reports are only published after the FDA approves a drug, and that a confidentiality agreement must be signed with the company.
However, this statement is not nearly the whole truth, according to the U.S. National Institutes of Health’s website at http://ClinicalTrials.gov. The site indicates that the FDA Amendments Act of 2007 “requires mandatory registration and results reporting for certain clinical trials of drugs, biologics, and devices.” A clinical trial of Depakote that New Oakland recruited participants for was listed on the site while it was still ongoing.
Ms. Smith claimed that parents are required to complete a detailed form when their child participates in such a study, but said she did not have a blank copy of the form she could provide for proof.

Follow the money trail

Even beyond the New Oakland Center’s drug connections, those involved in seizing Ariana – from the judge to the DHS and various public and private agencies involved — are connected to each other in a suspiciously twisted web. All are getting big bucks for not only children they barbarically take from their families, but for clinical trials on psychiatric drugs and medical treatment — including pharmaceutical drugs — that are given to the children.
Government officials involved in the case, including Judge Lynne Pierce, Department of Human Services chief Maura Corrigan and others also have their ties to Big Pharma and the undercurrent of money funneling.
Godboldo first took her daughter to The Children’s Center in Detroit when Ariana began having significant adverse reactions to the immunizations she had been receiving. Maryanne didn’t realize at the time that the Children’s Center is one of six partners in Behavioral Health Professionals, Inc (BHPI), a non-profit based in Michigan. BHPI is the parent organization for ConsumerLink and CareLink, which network with insurance companies and refer children to the various partners and other organizations.
Amber Kozlowski — a “social worker” — testified on Aug. 5 that she was responsible for Ariana’s admission to the Hawthorn Center on March 25. There, Ariana’s prosthesis was removed in violation of her disability rights, she was re-medicated with Risperdal and other drugs and was said to become the victim of sexual abuse, as stated in a police report filed by her family.
According to the Voice of Detroit, Kozlowski said she works for Neighborhood Services Organization (NSO) — one of the partners of BHPI — directly while contracting with ConsumerLink for the hospital liaison part of her job. NSO’s board of directors includes executives from various health and insurance agencies, including the Detroit Medical Center, Pro Care Health Plan and the Health Alliance Plan.
The Children’s Center, which is primarily funded by the Department of Human Services, also has its own foster care division and is funded at the rate of $34 per day for foster care provision, according to state budget documents. These funds originate with the federal government and are also channeled also into various other private foster care agencies in the state.
But that’s not all – the center also receives substantial grants from Ford Motor Company, and three Ford family members sit on its board.

Corruption, lies and illegal action

After authorities seized Ariana and institutionalized her, they decided she didn’t need the medication after all, but still continued to institutionalize her for seven weeks before releasing her to an aunt. Due to Maryanne’s allegedly firing a shot when authorities tried to take her daughter, this case received special attention – but it is otherwise exactly like thousands of other cases like it in Michigan. In the Godboldo case and many others, orders to remove children are literally rubber-stamped.
Voice of Detroit also recently reported that the Interim Supervisor of Juvenile Intake for Wayne County, Vikki Kapanowski, testified at Godboldo’s juvenile court trial that these orders are actually approved by a probation officer with no law license who merely stamps the judge’s name on the order — the judge never even sees the order.
Voice of Detroit and the Detroit News also reported on testimony in Godboldo’s criminal trial revealing that the whole process of serving the illegal order was, in itself, illegal. The probation officers doing this rubber-stamping in Detroit have not been sworn, do not have law licenses and are not authorized to perform functions such as issuing these orders.

CPS has no intentions of protecting children

Everything about this case seems wrong. To begin with, Ariana was not only prescribed a dangerous drug that is restricted to individuals over the age of 18, she had to witness a standoff with a SWAT team because there was no legal court order to remove her. A caseworker lied and called Maryanne’s actions medical neglect, even though she was working out a treatment plan elsewhere with another medical doctor. Ariana was then forced to return to the same facility that she was said to have been sexually assaulted at.
Not only has CPS – an agency sworn to protect children — shown no concern about this child’s best interests in any regard, its insistence on forcing children on medications is the reason why the Godboldo family has been forced to struggle through this ridiculous and unnecessary trial.
Ariana was taken from her mother (a low-income household), who CPS assumed would not be able to afford to defend herself, and was attempted to be placed in a foster home, group home or institution without due process or any evidence to prove that intervention was even necessary to begin with. All the while, federal matching funds and Medicaid funds were being collected to do so.
This case has exposed a serious problem in the way child protection is handled in not only Detroit or in the entire state of Michigan; the sad truth is that this is how child protection is being handled in every city in the country as well. Far from protecting children, CPS frequently exploits children for private gain.
This all comes back to the disturbing truth about the corruption of the agency, and how it uses private contractors to kidnap children and take them from their homes. The private contractors working for CPS are paid up to millions of dollars in reward money a year (http://www.infowars.com/cps-warrior…). Maryanne Godboldo has now openly accused CPS of being engaged in child trafficking (http://www.naturalnews.com/032501_M…) as well as sexually molesting her daughter (listen to interviews below).

Risperdal was unlawfully marketed to children to start with

What is even more interesting about all this information is the timing of recent news reports that Johnson and Johnson has just settled with the Justice Department and agreed to plead a misdemeanor on the illegal marketing of Risperdal ((http://voiceofdetroit.net/2011/08/0…).
Forty US states are planning lawsuits against J&J for this (http://www.pharmalot.com/2011/08/jj…). Johnson and Johnson has been forced to pay millions in damages – in multiple cases – for misleading safety claims it made about Risperdal while marketing the drug, including to children.
Big Pharma’s habit of paying medical professionals to recommend, market and prescribe their products regardless of the consequences is gathering more attention in recent times, such as in the case of Risperdal.
According to one lawsuit filed against the drug company giant, the FDA told J&J in 1997 that its request to market Risperdal for children was “without any justification.” In the following years, J&J’s arsenal of pharmaceutical sales reps made thousands of sales calls to child and adolescent psychiatrists. The company informed doctors that they qualified for the drug if they had as few as one adult patient displaying minor signs of schizophrenia.

How to Treat Asthma With Aromatherapy

The characteristic wheezing of asthma is made by the effort to push air through swollen, narrowed bronchial passages. During an asthma attack, stale air cannot be fully exhaled because the bronchioles are swollen and clogged with mucus, and thus less fresh air cannot be inhaled. The person gasps and labors for breath.
Allergic reactions to food, stress, and airborne allergens are the common causes of asthma. Allergies trigger production of histamine, which dilates blood vessels and constricts airways. Asthma sufferers fight an ongoing battle with such low-level congestion, which is actually an attempt by unhappy lungs to rid themselves of irritations.

Many aromatherapy books warn against using essential oils to treat asthma. Some asthmatics are sensitive to fragrance and find that it triggers their attacks. Although you certainly don't want to make the situation any worse, aromatherapy offers promising results when used judiciously.

The safest time for aromatherapy treatments is in-between attacks. Use a chest rub made from essential oils that have decongestive and antihistamine properties, such as peppermint and ginger. German chamomile, which contains chamazulene, is thought to actually prevent the release of histamine. Frankincense, marjoram, and rose encourage deep breathing and allow lungs to expand. To reduce bronchial spasms, use the relaxants: chamomile, lavender, rose, geranium, and marjoram.

A lavender steam can be used by some asthmatics even during an attack. The steam opens airways, while the lavender quickly relaxes lung spasms. This may halt the attack right in its tracks or at least make it less severe. As an added bonus, lavender also relaxes the mind, so it helps dissipate the panic you feel when you can't catch your breath.

If you find that steaming only makes it more difficult to breathe, use an aromatherapy diffuser or a humidifier instead. For babies and small children, put some very hot water in the bathtub, add several drops of lavender essential oil, and hold the child in your arms over the steam. You can also rub someone's feet with an aromatherapy massage oil.

Essential oils are not powerful enough to heal an asthmatic condition all by themselves. Herbs that repair lung damage and improve breathing are also needed, along with avoiding whatever sparks the allergic reaction. If this means stress, then other aromatherapy techniques such as massage, relaxation techniques, and fragrant baths can help you de-stress your life.

Essential oils for asthma: chamomile, eucalyptus (don't use during an attack), frankincense (deepens breathing, allows lungs to expand), geranium, ginger, lavender, marjoram, peppermint, rose

Aromatherapy Treatments for Asthma
Try the following recipes for asthma relief between attacks.
Asthma Inhalation Rub

  • 6 drops lavender oil
  • 4 drops geranium oil
  • 1 drop marjoram oil
  • 1 drop peppermint or ginger oil
  • 1 ounce vegetable oil
Combine the ingredients. Rub on chest as needed, especially before bedtime. Because asthmatics can be extremely sensitive to scent, do a sniff test first. Test the formula by simply sniffing it to make sure there is no adverse reaction.Essential Oil Steam
  • 1/4 teaspoon eucalyptus oil
  • 3 cups of water
Bring water to a simmer, turn off heat, and add essential oils. Set the pan where you can sit down next to it. Place your face over the steam and drape a towel over the back of your head to form a mini-sauna. Breathe in the steam, coming out for fresh air as needed. Do at least three rounds of steam inhalation several times a day. Fresh or dried eucalyptus leaves can be added to the water instead of the pure essential oil. You can replace the eucalyptus oil with other essential oils listed (such as lavender), except bay, clove, or thyme. Whichever essential oil you use, be sure to keep your eyes closed while steaming. It's okay to use this steam as often as you like.

A sister at church shared how her daughter's asthma attacks stopped after several of the aromatherapy treatments with lavender. Prior to the attack she would have her daughter in-hail the sent from a bottle and that was it. After a few weeks her daughters attacks stopped altogether.
