The Flu and Its Prevention


What is the flu?
The flu is a disease of the respiratory tract caused by one of several strains of influenza viruses.
From the 2003 “Red Book” of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the Report of the Committee on Infectious Diseases and the pediatrician’s reference:
“Influenza classically is characterized by sudden onset of fever, often with chills or rigors, headache, malaise, diffuse myalgia, and a nonproductive cough. Subsequently, the respiratory tract signs of sore throat, nasal congestion, rhinitis, and cough become more prominent. Conjunctival injection, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting can occur. In some children, influenza can appear as an upper respiratory tract infection or as a febrile illness with few respiratory tract signs. In young infants, influenza can produce a sepsis-like picture and occasionally can cause croup, bronchiolitis or pneumonia. Acute myositis characterized by calf tenderness and refusal to walk may develop after several days of influenza illness…” (p. 382)
The only death related to the influenza virus is one where the virus WAS identified and where there were no other pre-existing illnesses as a cause of death.
What are the influenza-like-illnesses?
They are also caused by viruses, but other than the flu virus. Runny nose, cough, sore throat, low-to-medium high fever or high fever in absence of typical flu symptoms, tiredness, sneezing. Stomach cramps and vomiting or diarrhea without fever or aches and pains, commonly called “stomach flu” are caused by different bacteria and viruses, not to be confused with the influenza viruses.

History – Was the flu always a killer disease?
We need not to go that far back – I remember the flu with its aches and fever and prostration, oftentimes with respiratory symptoms from which people recovered after some time in bed. Today it is still considered a seasonal illness in the rest of the world and the North American flu hysteria and flu shot drive is looked upon with disbelief and some humor – basically they think we are crazy…
Come flu season we are always reminded of the 1918 “Spanish” flu which swept across the world in the aftermath of WWI and which was reported to have caused over 20 million deaths. What we are not told is that back then homeopaths used homeopathic remedies and lost only 1-5% of their patients, most of which were already ill when they got the flu. And naturopath Dr. Lincoln Graham used simple non-drug methods and cured over 400 flu patients.
In 1976 a single case of so-called “swine flu” in one overworked, chilled-to-the-bone army recruit caused his swift death. The fear this struck in the USA resulted in nationwide flu shots which caused death of 30 and Guillain-Barre paralysis in over 500 citizens. Fortunately the preparation of mass quantities of vaccines was slow otherwise the deaths from the bad flu shot would have been many more and quite unnecessary.

What is in the flu shot?
Formaldehyde: a known cancer causing agent
Thimerosal: (a mercury derivative) used as a preservative in the vaccine. Can cause brain injury and autoimmune disease.
Also preservatives and solvents like aluminum, monosodium glutamate, sodium phosphate, phenoxyethanol, gelatin, sulfites, yeast protein.
Altered live viruses and killed bacteria.

But here’s the problem with those – during the serial passage of the virus through the animal cells, animal RNA and DNA can be transferred from one host to another. Animal viruses can (and have in the past) also slip past quality control testing procedures as in the case with the 1955-61 polio vaccine and the SV40 ( Simian Virus#40 – the 40th virus found in that vaccine) which has cancerogenic properties and which passed undetected into the polio vaccines and infected millions of vaccinated people.

So this is how vaccines are supposed to work
Vaccines are supposed to fool the body’s immune system into producing antibodies to resist viral and bacterial infection in the same way that actually having the disease usually produces immunity to future infection.
The vaccine contains a “attenuated” virus – processed and broken down until only small pieces of the virus remain. (However, the toxic antigens, usually protein or carbohydrate in nature, remain and are still a serious challenge to the system, pushing it into producing antibodies to deal with these intrusive poisons).

How effective is it?
Flu Vaccine production is a big guessing game. Every year the CDC has to try and predict what virus will infect people in the U.S. the following year. It seldom works.
We also know that we can get the flu, the common cold, and other viral diseases multiple times and that we do not acquire natural immunity to them. So immunization for one virus leaves us open to infection from other viruses.
Epidemiologist, Dr. Vittorio Demicheli, has found that influenza vaccine is only 24% effective in reducing illness which has flu symptoms in otherwise healthy adults.
Distinguished virologist and former Chief Vaccine Control Officer at the US FDA, Dr. J. Anthony Morris, is even less impressed: “There is no evidence that any influenza vaccine thus far developed is effective in preventing or mitigating any attack of influenza. The producers of these vaccines know that they are worthless, but they go on selling them anyway.
In 1992-93 the isolated influenza samples for the predominant virus (influenza A (strongN2) virus) were not similar to that in the vaccine (MMWR 42 752-55)
A 1993 article from Holland, discussing the flu shot given to elderly residents of a nursing home says “50% of the vaccinated population caught the illness compared to 48% unvaccinated.” Some probably got the flu as a result of the flu shot!
In 1994-95 : the CDC reported that 43% of isolated influenza samples (from sick people) for the predominant virus were not similar to the vaccine.
Most recently, in 2003, the flu shot did not protect from the actual flu virus which turned out to be a different strain, nevertheless mass hysteria ensued due to the fear of insufficient supplies and the purposefully deceitful message that even the wrong vaccine constituted protection.
Even for children and babies the flu shot has been found ineffective: in Japan, two large studies showed little difference in influenza rates between 4 cities with flu shot coverage ranging from 1% to 90%.

How safe are flu vaccines?
Well, how safe is it to have mercury, formaldehyde, MSG, chicken or swine DNA in the blood stream of a baby, an elderly person…or anybody for that matter!
The Swine flu vaccine disaster of 1976 caused over 565 cases of Guillain-Barre Syndrome paralysis, multiple neurological problems and many deaths. Today, flu vaccine product inserts still caution individuals who have a history of Guillian-Barre syndrome of the likelihood of subsequently developing that disease.
In 1970 Rosenberg, G.A. in an article in the New England Journal of Medicine wrote about meningo-encephalitis being reported as a result of influenza vaccines, including a case of meningo-encephalitis developing 12 days after a flu shot. It is a travesty that now we are immunizing against meningitis – a disease directly linked to vaccination damage.
Other reactions associated with influenza vaccines are fever , malaise, myalgia (muscle pain), hives, allergic asthma, systemic anaphylaxis, Guillain-Barre Syndrome, encephalopathy (brain damage), optic neuritis, brachial plexus neuropathy (cough), many different types of paralysis, ataxia, respiratory infections, gastro-intestianl problems, eye problems , allergic reactions, disturbed blood pressure, collapse etc.

So now that I know all that – What to do?!
Use your common sense and research the pros and cons. Work on improving your health and when in need of protection, use alternatives to the chemical injection. Remember, knowledge dispels fear and allows us to make better choices for ourselves and our loved ones – choices based on our level of comfort and not on outside authority alone!

What alternatives are available?
  1. GOOD HEALTH! All natural medicines concur that good health is the best assurance for a strong prevention of disease. Susceptibility is the most important factor when evaluating the dangers in acquiring disease. Good food, enough water, sleep, rest, and a positive mental/emotional attitude are your best bet!
  2. If you are over-worked or over-stressed and there is not much you can do to change that, increase vitamins and minerals, eat well, make sure you get enough rest when you can, keep hydrated by drinking water.
  3. HOMEOPATHIC PROPHYLAXIS: homeopathy has a long history of effective disease prevention and cure through homeopathic remedies. For these to be effective, the above 2 conditions are important.

Vaccinated chldren five times more prone to disease then unvaccinated children

An ongoing study out of Germany comparing disease rates among vaccinated and unvaccinated children points to a pretty clear disparity between the two groups as far as illness rates are concerned.

As reported by the group Health Freedom Alliance, children who have been vaccinated according to official government schedules are up to five times more likely to contract a preventable disease than children who developed their own immune systems naturally without vaccines.



What The Study Revealed

Released as its own preliminary study back in September 2011, the survey includes data on 8,000 unvaccinated children whose overall disease rates were compared to disease rates among the general population, the vast majority of which has been vaccinated. And in every single disease category, unvaccinated children fared far better than vaccinated children in terms of both disease prevalence and severity. In other words, the evidence suggests that vaccines are neither effective nor safe.

"No study of health outcomes of vaccinated people versus unvaccinated has ever been conducted in the U.S. by CDC or any other agency in the 50 years or more of an accelerating schedule of vaccinations (now over 50 doses of 14 vaccines given before kindergarten, 26 doses in the first year)," wrote Louis Rain back in 2011 for Health Freedom Alliance about the survey.

How The Health Of Vaccinated And Unvaccinated Children Compared

As disclosed at VaccineInjury.info, vaccinated children are nearly twice as likely as unvaccinated children to develop neurodermatitis, for instance, a skin disorder marked by chronic itching and scratching. Similarly, vaccinated children are about two-and-a-half times as likely, based on current data, to develop a pattern of migraine headaches compared to unvaccinated children.

The numbers are even more divergent for asthma and chronic bronchitis, where vaccinated children are about eight times more likely than unvaccinated children to develop such respiratory problems. Vaccinated children are also far more likely to develop hyperactivity, hayfever, and thyroid disease, with their likelihood three times, four times, and a shocking 17 times higher, respectively, compared to unvaccinated children.

Autism Extremely Rare Among Unvaccinated Children

Where the gloves really come off on the issue, however, is with autism, the long-held point of contention in the vaccine safety debate. According to the data, only four of the 8,000 unvaccinated children that were included in the 2011 release of the study responded as having severe autism, which is a mere half of one percent of the overall population. Meanwhile the autism rate among the general population, as tabulated in the German KiGGS study used for comparison, is about 1.1 percent.

This means that vaccinated children are about 2.5 times more likely to develop severe autism compared to unvaccinated children, a shocking find when considering the medical establishment vehemently denies any link whatsoever between vaccines and autism. And as it turns out, the four unvaccinated children who reported severe autism all tested high for heavy metals, including mercury, which further indicts vaccines and their disease-causing adjuvants.

Though this correlation does not necessarily conclude causation, the overall disparity of disease rates between vaccinated and unvaccinated children at the very least points to a very strong connection that cannot be denied or dismissed. Even after accounting for bias, as the survey's authors have tried to do over the years, the data continues to show much higher disease rates among vaccinated children compared to unvaccinated children.

Six Reasons to Breathe Right


Improper breathing can lead to the accumulation of unburned food, or waste material, that cause many of the conditions denominated disease, and are difficult to correct without proper elimination.

Proper elimination cannot take place without the proper oxygenation of the blood, and deep breathing is the only rational means ,of its accomplishment.

Freedom of circulation and oxygenation means restoration to a normal state, when disease is manifest anywhere in the body.

The necessity exists in every human being to maintain vital force in order to be healthy, and this vital force is derived from food, water and air.

Without a fuel supply the fires will not burn. Unless they do burn there can be no electricity furnished; they will not burn without oxygen.  Oxygenation is difficult to come by without proper breathing.

Deep breathing increases the amount of oxygen, and burns up waste material, purifies the blood, furnishes new power to all the tissues, increases the circulation, produces more force, and in proportion to the force generated, it helps to normalize normal state of the bodily system.

We are raising a generation of deluded narcissists

A new analysis of the American Freshman Survey, which has accumulated data for the past 47 years from 9 million young adults, reveals that college students are more likely than ever to call themselves gifted and driven to succeed, even though their test scores and time spent studying are decreasing.
Psychologist Jean Twenge, the lead author of the analysis, is also the author of a study showing that the tendency toward narcissism in students is up 30 percent in the last thirty-odd years.
This data is not unexpected.  I have been writing a great deal over the past few years about the toxic psychological impact of media and technology on children, adolescents and young adults, particularly as it regards turning them into faux celebrities—the equivalent of lead actors in their own fictionalized life stories.
On Facebook, young people can fool themselves into thinking they have hundreds or thousands of “friends.” They can delete unflattering comments. They can block anyone who disagrees with them or pokes holes in their inflated self-esteem. They can choose to show the world only flattering, sexy or funny photographs of themselves (dozens of albums full, by the way), “speak” in pithy short posts and publicly connect to movie stars and professional athletes and musicians they “like.”
We must beware of the toxic psychological impact of media and technology on children, adolescents and young adults, particularly as it regards turning them into faux celebrities—the equivalent of lead actors in their own fictionalized life stories.
Using Twitter, young people can pretend they are worth “following,” as though they have real-life fans, when all that is really happening is the mutual fanning of false love and false fame.
Using computer games, our sons and daughters can pretend they are Olympians, Formula 1 drivers, rock stars or sharpshooters.  And while they can turn off their Wii and Xbox machines and remember they are really in dens and playrooms on side streets and in triple deckers around America, that is after their hearts have raced and heads have swelled with false pride for “being” something they are not.
On MTV and other networks, young people can see lives just like theirs portrayed on reality TV shows fueled by such incredible self-involvement and self-love that any of the “real-life” characters should really be in psychotherapy to have any chance at anything like a normal life.
These are the psychological drugs of the 21st Century and they are getting our sons and daughters very sick, indeed.
As if to keep up with the unreality of media and technology, in a dizzying paroxysm of self-aggrandizing hype, town sports leagues across the country hand out ribbons and trophies to losing teams, schools inflate grades, energy drinks in giant, colorful cans take over the soft drink market, and psychiatrists hand out Adderall like candy.
All the while, these adolescents, teens and young adults are watching a Congress that can’t control its manic, euphoric, narcissistic spending, a president that can’t see his way through to applauding genuine and extraordinary achievements in business, a society that blames mass killings on guns, not the psychotic people who wield them, and—here no surprise—a stock market that keeps rising and falling like a roller coaster as bubbles inflate and then, inevitably, burst.
That’s really the unavoidable end, by the way. False pride can never be sustained. The bubble of narcissism is always at risk of bursting.  That’s why young people are higher on drugs than ever, drunker than ever, smoking more, tattooed more, pierced more and having more and more and more sex, earlier and earlier and earlier, raising babies before they can do it well, because it makes them feel special, for a while.  They’re doing anything to distract themselves from the fact that they feel empty inside and unworthy.
Distractions, however, are temporary, and the truth is eternal. Watch for an epidemic of depression and suicidality, not to mention homicidality, as the real self-loathing and hatred of others that lies beneath all this narcissism rises to the surface.  I see it happening and, no doubt, many of you do, too.
We had better get a plan together to combat this greatest epidemic as it takes shape.  Because it will dwarf the toll of any epidemic we have ever known. And it will be the hardest to defeat. Because, by the time we see the scope and destructiveness of this enemy clearly, we will also realize, as the saying goes, that it is us.

Home remedies for colds, coughs and the flu

(NaturalNews) From the pantry to the bedside, home remedies you can make in a snap help prevent seasonal colds or cure a stubborn case of the flu.

Garlic tea immune enhancer

A well-known immune system strengthener, garlic shines as an antibacterial and antiviral herb for fighting colds, coughs and the flu. One of the best ways to take advantage of garlic's healing properties is by drinking fresh garlic tea. Sweetened with a little raw honey, it's delicious and helps to heal what ails you. Peel 2 to 3 cloves of fresh garlic and lightly crush them with the side of a wide knife blade. Add them to 2 cups of water and bring to a boil. Lower the heat and simmer for another 15 minutes. Strain the garlic and allow the tea to cool to mouth temperature. Add raw honey, a tiny pinch of cayenne pepper and a squeeze of lemon juice. Drink as much as desired.

Red onion and raw honey cough syrup

A wonderful home remedy for adults or kids suffering from a cough uses brown cane sugar, raw honey or stevia and red onions to make a soothing and tasty cough syrup. Wash, peel and slice the entire onion horizontally. Starting with the base of the onion, layer the slices in a bowl alternating with layers of raw honey or brown sugar. Stevia powder works well for this home remedy too; however, it is extremely sweet. Continue adding layers of onion and sweetener until the entire onion is reconstructed in the bowl. Cover and allow the sweetened onion to remain in the bowl on your counter for about 12-15 hours or overnight. The next day, there will be about a cup or more of sweet syrup in the bowl. The cough syrup contains a range of nutrients, vitamins and minerals from the onion and the honey to help fight infection and soothe sore throats and quiet a cough. Take a spoonful as needed. Has no onion-y taste.

Raw honey and lemon for sore throats

A mixture of fresh lemon juice and raw honey provides soothing relief for sore throats and helps stop the tickle that stimulates coughing. Raw honey -- with all its components including royal jelly, propolis and bee pollen -- is high in nutrients and enzymes which kill bacteria and viruses. The vitamin C and antioxidants found in fresh lemons boost the immune system, speeding healing. Together these two home remedies are a powerhouse for getting over a cold and sore throat. Mix the juice of 1/2 the lemon with 2 to 3 tablespoons of honey and sip throughout the day as needed.

Chicken soup antiviral

Soup really does act to knock out a cold or the flu and hasten healing. As long ago as the 12th century, the Jewish physician Maimonides recommended consuming chicken soup to fight colds and flu. Take advantage of the high antioxidant properties and nutrients found in organic vegetables and chicken. Although non-organic chicken soup may relieve some cold symptoms, it also supplies the body with pesticides, growth hormones, herbicides and antibiotics that are not recommended for well being. Go organic all the way and get well quickly.

Mullein tea for coughs and congestion

Tea is well-known for relieving chest congestion from coughs, colds and the flu. It acts as an expectorant, loosening trapped mucous and soothing sore throats. Make mullein tea by filling a tea ball or strainer with dried mullein herb and steeping in a cup of boiling water for 10 minutes. Sweeten with raw honey and drink as needed to relieve symptoms.

Learn to love fevers, not fear them

(NaturalNews) One of the biggest misconceptions in health care today is the role of fevers. Through misunderstanding, many parents fear fevers, when they should love and respect them. A fever is one of the most extraordinary and intricate healing processes in the body. It plays out like a symphony, orchestrated only when needed to stimulate an immune response, destroy invading organisms and promote the restoration of health. The American Academy of Pediatrics voiced concerns in a 2011 study, concluding that parents need to understand the fever itself is not endangering to a healthy child. In contrast, it's actually beneficial and the primary goal of treatment should be to improve comfort, rather than lowering body temperature alone.

Traditionally, fevers were respected and understood. People knew that the fever would build and then break, like a wave rolling into shore. Now, without knowing or understanding the process, most try to suppress it immediately using antipyretics, or substances that lower temperature, such as acetaminophen and ibuprofen. Antipyretics may quickly lower temperature, but in doing so they silence the body, hinder immune system development, allow the invader to survive and potentially induce chronic disease development.

Antipyretics are often misused, incorrectly administered or excessively dosed as well. Fifty percent of parents consider a temperature of less than 100.4°F is a fever and 25% of caregivers administer an antipyretic then, before the temperature actually reaches fever status. More disturbingly, 85% of parents report waking a sleeping child to administer antipyretics. 80% of pediatricians disagree with this practice. The physiologic healing that occurs while sleeping far surpasses the desire to simply lower the fever.

Modern medicine has lead us away from our bodies. Through its symptom-targeted treatments, patients have learned to expect immediate results. This is even more true when loving parents are concerned for their children. Treating symptoms without treating the cause is like taking the batteries out of the fire alarm, while the house burns down. It is essential to teach parents and children to listen and interpret these signs from the body, not just focus on removing of them.

Fever as a friend, not a foe

A fever is defined by an oral temperature exceeding 100.4° F. They are usually self-limiting and short in duration. There is no evidence of fevers worsening the course of the illness or causing long- term neurological complications. It is important to understand, that the fever itself is not a disease, but rather a symptom of an underlying disharmony.

As human beings, we want to stay alive. This is true on all levels. Mentally, physically, physiologically, and biologically, we function to promote life. Once this is understood, it's easy to grasp that a fever is a physiologic process the body uses to fight infection, thus promoting survival or life. When an invader (virus, bacteria etc.) enters the body, signals are sent to the brain to increase the hypothalamic "set point". This essentially turns up the thermostat for a few days to kill the intruder. Signals can come from bacterial toxins or the body's response to the intruder, i.e. the production of cytokines, chemical mediators, macrophages, and antibodies. The temperature increase also enhances the immune system by catalyzing enzymes, increasing neutrophil production and T-lymphocyte proliferation. Inflammation is stimulated to protect the area, prevent the spread of infection and initiate the healing process.

Always consult your naturopathic physician or pediatrician when fevers exceed 102°F or last longer than three days. Also consult if the fever causes great discomfort, breathing difficulty, stiff neck, convulsions or any time you are unsure. Proper hydration and electrolyte replenishment are essential to support the body.
