The Benefits of Raw Milk

(NaturalNews) Most people are unaware that clean, raw milk from grass-fed cows was actually used as a medicine in the early part of the 20th century. Raw milk - straight from the cow - has been called the "stem cell" of foods. It was used as medicine to treat, and many times cure, some serious diseases. From the time of Hippocrates until just after World War II, this miracle liquid nourished and healed millions.

Clean raw milk from pastured cows is a completely balanced food. You could live on it exclusively if you had to.

Raw milk ingredients that make it such a powerful food:

Proteins

Raw cow's milk has all 20 of the standard amino acids, which saves our bodies the work of having to convert any into usable form. About 80% of the proteins in milk are caseins (reasonably heat stable but easy to digest). The other 20% fall into the class of whey proteins. These are also easy to digest, but also very heat sensitive.

The immunoglobulins are an extremely complex class of milk proteins also known as antibodies. These provide resistance to many viruses, bacteria and bacterial toxins and may also help reduce the severity of asthma symptoms. Research has shown a significant loss of these important disease fighters when milk is pasteurized.

Carbohydrates

Lactose is the primary carbohydrate in cow's milk. It is made from one molecule each of the simple sugars glucose and galactose. People with lactose intolerance do not make the enzyme lactase and so cannot digest milk sugar. Raw milk has its lactose-digesting Lactobacilli bacteria intact. This may allow people who traditionally have avoided milk to drink raw milk.

Fats

About two thirds of the fat in milk is saturated. Saturated fats play a number of important roles in our bodies. They construct cell membranes and key hormones, they provide energy storage and padding for delicate organs, and they serve as a vehicle for important fat-soluble vitamins.

Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) is abundant in milk from pastured cows. This is a heavily studied, polyunsaturated Omega-6 fatty acid that has promising health benefits. Some of CLA's many possible benefits are (1) it raises metabolic rates; (2) it helps remove abdominal fat; (3) it boosts muscle growth; (4) it reduces resistance to insulin; and (5) it strengthens the immune system and lowers food allergy reactions. Grass-fed raw milk has 3-5 times more CLAs than the milk from feed-lot cows.

Vitamins

Whole raw milk has both water and fat soluble vitamins. No enriching is necessary. It's a complete food. Pasteurized milk must have the destroyed components added back in, especially the fat soluble vitamins A and D.

Minerals

Raw milk contains a broad selection of minerals ranging from calcium and phosphorus to trace elements.

Calcium is abundant in raw milk. Its benefits include a reduction of some cancers, particularly colon; higher bone density in people of all ages; lower risk of osteoporosis in older adults; lowered risk of kidney stones; the formation of strong teeth; as well as a reduction of dental cavities.

An interesting fact about minerals as nutrients is the special balance they require with other minerals to function properly. For example, calcium needs a proper ratio of phosphorus and magnesium to be properly utilized by our bodies. Raw milk is in perfect balance.

Enzymes

The 60 functional enzymes in raw milk have an amazing assortment of jobs to perform. Some of them are native to milk and some come from beneficial bacteria growing in raw milk. When we eat food that contains enzymes devoted to its own digestion, it's less work for our pancreas. Other enzymes, like catalase, lysozyme and lactoperoxidase help to protect milk from unwanted bacterial infection, making it safer for us to drink.

Cholesterol

Milk contains about 3mg of cholesterol per gram. Our bodies make most of the cholesterol we need. This amount fluctuates by what we get from our food. Cholesterol is a repair substance. It is a waxy plant steroid that our body uses as a form of water-proofing and as a building block for key hormones.

Beneficial Bacteria

Raw milk is a living food with amazing self-protective properties. As most food goes bad as it ages, raw milk gets better. From helpful bacterial fermentation, the digestibility of enzymes, vitamins, and minerals all increases.

The Benefits of Lemon Balm

Lemon Balm/Melissa Benefits

Lemon Balm was dedicated to the goddess Diana, and used medicinally by the Greeks some 2,000 years ago. In the Middles Ages lemon balm was used to soothe tension, to dress wounds, and as a cure for toothache, skin eruptions, mad dog bites, crooked necks, and sickness during pregnancy. It was even said to prevent baldness. As a medicinal plant, lemon balm has traditionally been employed against bronchial inflammation, earache, fever, flatulence, headaches, high blood pressure, influenza, mood disorders, palpitations, toothache and vomiting. A tea made from Lemon balm leaves is said to soothe menstrual cramps and helps relieve PMS.
The herb is used for nervous agitation, sleeping problems, functional gastrointestinal complaints, menstrual cramps and urinary spasms.

It is thought that the volatile oils in lemon balm contain chemicals that relax muscles, particularly in the bladder, stomach, and uterus, thereby relieving cramps, gas, and nausea.
ESCOP (European Scientific Cooperative On Phytotherapy) lists its internal use for tenseness, restlessness, irritability, and symptomatic treatment of digestive disorders, such as minor spasms; externally, for herpes labialis (ESCOP, 1997).

Recent evidence suggests that lemon balm has a depressant or sedative action on the central nervous systems of laboratory mice. The German Standard License for lemon balm tea approves it for nervous disorders of sleep and of the gastrointestinal tract, and to stimulate the appetite (Wichtl and Bisset, 1994).

Grave's Disease
Lemon balm may block some of the activity of thyroid hormone in the body. Therefore, it has been used in the past to treat Grave's disease, an auto-immune condition in which the thyroid gland produces excess thyroid hormone. Although laboratory and animal studies show that lemon balm may help decrease thyroid in the body, no human studies have yet been conducted for this possible use.

Mental Clarity, Concentration and Relaxation
Lemon balm is widely used to treat anxiety and insomnia in Europe. It reduces anxiety and stress and eases sleep disorders. Recently it produced an unexpected result in a research study: it greatly increased the ability to concentrate and perform word and picture tasks.

Blackstrap molasses

Blackstrap molasses is a sweetener that is actually good for you. Unlike refined white sugar and corn syrup, which are stripped of virtually all nutrients except simple carbohydrates, or artificial sweeteners like saccharine or aspartame, which not only provide no useful nutrients but have been shown to cause health problems in sensitive individuals, blackstrap molasses is a healthful sweetener that contains significant amounts of a variety of minerals that promote your health.

Iron for Energy
In addition to providing quickly assimilated carbohydrates, blackstrap molasses can increase your energy by helping to replenish your iron stores. Blackstrap molasses is a very good source of iron. Particularly for menstruating women, who are more at risk for iron deficiency, boosting iron stores with blackstrap molasses is a good idea--especially because, in comparison to red meat, a well known source of iron, blackstrap molasses provides more iron for less calories and is totally fat-free. Iron is an integral component of hemoglobin, which transports oxygen from the lungs to all body cells, and is also part of key enzyme systems for energy production and metabolism. And, if you're pregnant or lactating, your needs for iron increase. Growing children and adolescents also have increased needs for iron. Just 2 teaspoons of blackstrap molasses will sweetly provide you with 13.3% of the daily recommended value for iron.

A Spoonful of Molasses Helps Your Calcium Needs Go Down
Blackstrap molasses is a very good source of calcium. Calcium, one of the most important minerals in the body, is involved in a variety of physiological activities essential to life, including the ability of the heart and other muscles to contract, blood clotting, the conduction of nerve impulses to and from the brain, regulation of enzyme activity, and cell membrane function. Calcium is needed to form and maintain strong bones and teeth during youth and adolescence, and to help prevent the loss of bone that can occur during menopause and as a result of rheumatoid arthritis. Calcium binds to and removes toxins from the colon, thus reducing the risk of colon cancer, and because it is involved in nerve conduction, may help prevent migraine attacks. Two teaspoons of blackstrap molasses will meet 11.8% of your daily needs for calcium.

An Energizing Mineral-Dense Sweetener
Molasses is also an excellent source of copper and manganese and a very good source of potassium, and magnesium.
Copper, an essential component of many enzymes, plays a role in a wide range of physiological processes including iron utilization, elimination of free radicals, development of bone and connective tissue, and the production of the skin and hair pigment called melanin. Numerous health problems can develop when copper intake is inadequate, including iron deficiency anemia, ruptured blood vessels, osteoporosis, joint problems such as rheumatoid arthritis, brain disturbances, elevated LDL (bad) cholesterol and reduced HDL (good) cholesterol levels, irregular heartbeat, and increased susceptibility to infections. Using two teaspoons of blackstrap molasses to sweeten your morning cereal and the coffee or tea you drink during the day will supply you with 14.0% of the daily recommended value for copper.

ADHD-The Challenge

Dealing with ADHD-A Mothers Story

We've been having a horrible time the past month or so with Spencer. His 13th birthday is today, and he normally stresses for weeks on end before his birthday about what he will do with the birthday money from grandparents- he cannot deal with uncertainty and it makes our lives a living hell each year.

I cried out to the Lord for help. I was doing an internet search for something totally unrelated a few weeks ago.  I "happened" to come across an herb called Eleuthero (it used to be called Siberian Ginseng; it's not the same as regular ginseng). I had never read about it before, but as I was reading, I felt the Lord tell me that this was what Spencer needed.
Its part of a small group of plants called "adaptogens", which means that it works uniquely for each person who takes it as a tonic overall. For example, if you had high blood pressure and you took it, it will lower it, and someone else who might have low blood pressure and took it, it would raise it. It's like an "all purpose" herb that goes in and does what your body needs. It's especially good for stress, and Spencer's been stuck in "fight or flight" stress mode for a few weeks. It's also good for ADHD because it helps with mental clarity and focus.

I started him on Friday, November 3, and we've had peace in the house ever since! It's incredible. I had been reading that it can take up to 8 weeks to start working, but it started working immediately. He's more "there" mentally and totally calm. He did not stress one bit about his birthday! His sleep patterns have normalized...he's even been getting up early (like 7:30 or 8 am!) and starting his work on his own without me telling him to. He's completed his work every single day since then, too. Normally he gets up about 9 or 10 and is in a "fog" for several hours, complaining that he is still tired.

It was adrenal fatigue that was his main issue. He's been in "fight or flight mode" for years, even when there's nothing to stress about. Everything became a crisis of huge proportions to him. There are about 30 "symptoms" of adrenal fatigue, and he has about half of them. Adrenal fatigue is typical for ADHD and for having had the mercury poisoning.
Eleuthero use needs to take breaks now and then to stay effective. I called Kirk's compounding pharmacy (they give help with herbals and naturals if you ever need it) and they said 3 weeks on/ 1 week off is a reasonable schedule. On the week off, I'm going to do licorice root, which is another adaptogen to help his adrenals heal

Anyway, sorry this is so long, but I couldn't cut any of it out. It's so exciting to have peace in our home after so much turmoil.

I am praising the Lord for answering my prayers and healing my son with the incredible plants He created.

Texas Medical Board again tries to destroy Dr. Burzynski with new lawsuit to revoke his medical license

(NaturalNews) The medical establishment in Texas refuses to give up its vicious agenda to destroy the work and career of Dr. Stanislaw Burzynski, the famed cancer doctor whose innovative and specialized antineoplaston (ANP) treatments have helped cure many patients of supposedly "incurable" cancers. The Alliance for Natural Health (ANH) has announced that the Texas Medical Board (TMB) is once again suing Dr. Burzynski to have his medical license revoked, and his Houston, Tex.-based clinic shut down.

TMB's war against Dr. Burzynski's cancer treatments date back to the 1980s, when the group repeatedly accused him of breaking laws, some of which actually turned out to be nonexistent. To make a long story short, the group ultimately failed to destroy Dr. Burzynski because, quite frankly, he had not broken any laws, and his treatments actually work.

If you are unaware of the history of legal fights that Dr. Burzynski has had to deal with, be sure to check out this earlier NaturalNews report
(http://www.naturalnews.com/032998_B...).

You can also watch the full-length documentary about Dr. Burzynski, The Burzynski Movie, for free at NaturalNews.TV
(http://www.naturalnews.tv/v.asp?v=F...).

Dr. Burzynski's cancer protocols are diametrically opposed to conventional cancer treatments. He does not apply a one-size-fits-all chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery approach. Dr. Burzynski custom tailors cancer treatments for his patients based on their unique genetic makeups. In each of these customized formulas, Dr. Burzynski also utilizes sodium phenylbutyrate (PB), a compound he discovered that metabolizes in the liver and turns into antineoplastons.

TMB has fought tooth and nail to silence Dr. Burzynski, presumably because his work is a threat to the multi-billion dollar conventional cancer industry. So this time around, the group is accusing him of all sorts of violations, none of which are valid or true -- but it will attempt to use these flimsy accusations on April 11, 2012, to try to revoke Dr. Burzynski's medical license and shut down his practice unless we stop them!

Be sure to check out this 20-minute video update about what Dr. Burzynski currently faces with the charges made against him by TMB (https://www.burzynskimovie.com/index.php?op...).

On that same page below the video window, you will see a short summary of this current assault against health freedom, as well as information about how YOU can help stop TMB from destroying Dr. Burzynski's viable alternative to conventional cancer treatments.

ANH has also created an Action Alert form by which you can contact Texas senators and representatives, as well as Gov. Rick Perry, who has been instrumental in padding TMB with members that routinely harass integrative physicians like Dr. Burzynski(https://secure3.convio.net/aahf/site/Advocacy?cmd=display&page=UserAction&id=963).

Shampoo or SHAM POO

By Dr. Mercola
If you buy special shampoo for your baby, the last thing you'd expect it to contain would be known or suspected carcinogens...
But if you live in the U.S., this may in fact be the case.
For the past two years, health and environmental groups have been urging Johnson & Johnson to remove two potentially cancer-causing chemicals from its baby shampoo.
One of these ingredients is quaternium-15, which releases formaldehyde; a skin, eye, and respiratory irritant, and a known carcinogen (formaldehyde exposure has been associated with leukemia specifically).
According to SafeCosmetics.org:
"The North American Contact Dermatitis Group considers quaternium-15 to be among the most clinically significant contact allergens in children."
The other, 1,4-dioxane, is a "likely carcinogen," and is present in Johnson & Johnson's:
  • Baby Shampoo
  • Oatmeal Baby Wash
  • Moisture Care Baby Wash, and
  • Aveeno Baby Soothing Relief Creamy Wash
According to the CDC, 1,4 dioxane is "probably carcinogenic to humans," and is toxic to your brain, central nervous system, kidneys and liver.

Why is Johnson & Johnson Dragging Their Feet on Removal of Toxic Ingredients for U.S. Lots?

On October 31, The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics sent Johnson & Johnson a letter signed by 25 environmental and medical groups, demanding they "commit to removing the chemicals from all of its products by November 15." The Campaign also urges everyone to boycott Johnson & Johnson until it complies.
Johnson & Johnson recently responded, stating that:
"We have been phasing out the use of preservatives that release tiny amounts of formaldehyde to guard against bacterial contamination. These preservative technologies, which are used widely in our industry are all safe and approved in the countries where they are sold…  Over the past couple of years, we already have reduced the number of formulations globally with these "formaldehyde releaser" preservatives by 33% and in the U.S. by over 60%.
We are completing this reformulation as quickly as we can safely and responsibly do so.
As part of the manufacturing process, we have extensive monitoring to ensure that the amount of a trace byproduct known as "1,4 dioxane" in any of our products is well below the level that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and regulatory agencies around the world consider safe.
… We have introduced new product formulations for consumers who prefer natural products, such as JOHNSON'S® NATURAL®, a line that is 98% natural, and contains no formaldehyde releasing preservatives or traces of 1,4 dioxane."
However, reasonable as this may sound, there are two rather obvious "problems" with their reply:
  1. They’re already selling a carcinogen-free version of its baby shampoo in other countries, so obviously no complicated reformulation would be necessary, and
  2. The Johnson’s “Naturals” brand does not contain either of these chemicals, but, it costs about twice as much as their regular baby shampoo. That makes TWO carcinogen-free formulas at their disposal, which makes the line “We are completing this reformulation as quickly as we can safely and responsibly do so,”  seem like a rather strange excuse
The countries already receiving quaternium-15-free Johnson & Johnson products include:
Denmark Finland Japan The Netherlands
Norway South Africa Sweden The U.K.

As stated by Jezebel:
"And it's not like the company removed an essential ingredient to meet environmental restrictions in these countries. While some have banned the use of quaternium-15, it's unclear why some of these countries are being treated to the carcinogen-free shampoo."

What to Look for to Avoid Formaldehyde and 1,4-Dioxane

If you want to avoid formaldehyde-releasing ingredients and 1,4-dioxane, you need to know what to look for as they're NOT listed on the label; at least not in those words.

Common ingredients likely to contaminate products with formaldehyde include:
  • Quaternium-15
  • DMDM hydantoin
  • Imidazolidinyl urea
  • Diazolidinyl urea
To avoid 1,4-dioxane, watch out for these ingredients, which create 1,4-dioxane as a byproduct:
  • PEG-100 stearate
  • Sodium laureth sulfate
  • Sodium myreth sulfate
  • Polyethylene
  • Ceteareth-20

Other Hazardous Ingredients to Watch Out for...

From Eleny

I made up my mind a few years ago that I was not going to buy anything without reading the label considering the toxic brew of chemicals that a lot of products have, even products at health stores. I made the mistake of not reading the labels when I first started shopping at a health food store and little did I know that some of the popular brands were tainted with cancer causing chemicals. I agree that a lot of products are a sham and Johnsons baby shampoo is indeed SHAM POO.
